Following
the Enron scandal, legislation known as the Sarbanes-Oxley
Act (also known as the Public
Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act and SOX)
was introduced in order to restore public confidence in the world's
financial corporations.
Barclays
bank inaugurated a twelve-month programme to familiarise all its
employees with the SOX
message – that every single member of staff holds a
responsibility to ensure that the company operates within the law. As
part of this programme, Barclays commissioned a series of cartoon
strips from me – a classic case of humour being used to spell
out a deadly serious message.
